Four 1st division matches took place in the last week here, in St. Xavier’s Ground,Parel. Ashton Dias and Guruprasad Borhade struck hat-tricks each to help their sides Sunday Boys FC and RSF (B) cruise to victories respectively. Let’s take a look at the weekend round up where IDBI and ICL Payyade also emerged victorious in other clashes :
1st Division, Group B: Sunday Boys FC (Dias 14’ 22’ 62’) 3-2 Steadfast(A)( Naresh 46’ 53’)
Sunday afternoon unfurled a cracker of a game in 1st division, group B when group-topper Sunday Boys FC squeezed past Steadfast(A) 3-2 courtesy an Ashton Diashat-trick. In a match where the ball found the back of the net 5 times, 3 goals were scored in the first half. Ashton Dias was at the centre of the proceedings as he drew the first blood in the 14th minute before doubling the lead for his team 8 minutes later.
Naresh Bohra brought Steadfast(A) back into the game when he scored a stoppage time goal just before the break. Naresh made it square when he completed his brace and restored the parity for Steadfast 8 minutes into the second half. But Ashton Dias was still half-done only as he clinched the most-important winner 9 minutes later to complete his hat-trick and his team’s sixth victory in as many as 7 matches. Sunday Boys FC now opens up a 7 point lead on their nearest rival Desperados with 18 points in their kitty while Steadfast lies a place and a point behind the latter.
1st Division, Group D: IDBI (Kshitij 25’, Rohit 30’) 2-1 Madanpura SC ( Siddhesh 40’)
IDBI prevailed over Madanpura in a group D fixture against the bottom-placed Madanpura SC on Monday. Kshitij Salvi put IDBI ahead in the 25th minute before Rohit Pillai doubled the lead 5 minutes later. Towards the end of the first half Siddhesh Chalke reduced the margin for Madanpura SC but failed to add any other in the next half as IDBI registered their 2nd victory in 6 matches to improve to 5th place in the standings with 7 points in 6 matches. Madanpura SC will need to turn it around in the next two matches to avert the danger of relegation.
1st Division, Group D: R.S.F (B)(Borhade 13’ 22’ 65’) 3-1 (BBC) Dias United( Shirke 33’)
RSF (B) blanked (BBC) Dias United 3-1 on Saturday evening in another group D fixture of first division. It was an exquisite hat-trick by Guruprasad Borhade; striking two goals in the first half and the last one in final half; which undid all the efforts from (BBC) Dias United. Akshay Shirke reduced the margin in the 33rd minute but couldn’t save his side DUSC from their 4th defeat in 6 matches as RSF (B) leapfrogged to the third position with 10 points from as many as half the matches.
1st Division, Group A : ICL Payyade SC (Aaron 9’,Gaurav 37’) 2-1 D.K. Pharma (Roshan 15’)
ICL Payyade continued their good form when they overcame the sixth placed DK Pharma in a close encounter on Monday night. Olaide Aaron fired in the first goal of the match for Payyade but DK Pharma pulled one back six minutes later, through Roshan More. But ICL Payyade was not be denied as they got through, eventually, after the winner from Gaurav Surve in 37th minute. With this victory ICL Payyade looks set to snatch the top spot from the Miners FC as they now have 15 points from 6 matches , one less than Miners FC; both in points and number of matches and is a confirmed contender for a place in the play-off.
