1st Division: Tarun Sporting & Atlanta through to quarter-finals

2nd April 2018, Mumbai: Monday afternoon witness two matches at the St. Xavier’s Ground, Parel. In Group C, Tarun Sporting faced Wellingdon Catholic Gymkhana, whereas, in Group D, Atlanta encountered RSF ‘B’ in First Division play-off leagues. Tarun Sporting and Atlanta picked up a comprehensive win to swiftly book their place in the last eight of First Division alongside Veniza Vihar, Skorost FC, Indian Cultural League (ICL) vs ICL Payyade, Wellingdon Catholic Gymkhana and MFC (FC India).

Group C: Tarun Sporting (Abdul Dohadwala 3′ & 35′) 2-0 Wellingdon Catholic Gymkhana

Riding on Abdul Dohadwala’s brilliance, Tarun Sporting edged Wellingdon Catholic Gymkhana 2-0 to end their Play-Off Group Stage campaign on a positive note. Though Wellingdon suffered a defeat, they were able to book their place in the next round.

Abdul Dohadwala opened the scoring in the 3rd minute with a delicate strike. Wellingdon struggled to break Tarun Sporting’s backline who had a tremendous day at the office. Just before the half-time mark, Abdul doubled Tarun’s lead to put them in the driver’s seat and seal the victory.

Group D: Atlanta (Juventus D’Mello 6′, Ankit Dalvi 35′, Roysten Veigas 53′ and Kazi Huzan 66′) 4-1 RSF ‘B’ (Guruprasad Borhade 8′)

The second and final match of the day saw Atlanta facing RSF ‘B’. In what turned out to be a one-sided affair, Atlanta thumped RSF ‘B’ 4-1 to progress into the next round with ease.

There were four different goalscorers for Atlanta. Juventus D’Mello, Ankit Dalvi, Roysten Veigas and Kazi Huzan scored one goal each in a remarkable victory. Meanwhile, for RSF, Guruprasad scored the lone goal in the 8th minute.
