Yusuf Banky’s hattrick inspires Mumbai Warriors win, Rizvi Ceramics & Juhu Sparks share the spoils
Mumbai: Mumbai Warriors got the better of Central Railway MD in their Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA), Super Division, Group A match held at St Xavier’s ground, Parel on Monday, 3rd April 2017.
Both the teams started strong in search of three points. An even distribution of possession the game looked all set for a thriller and it did not disappoint. Warriors opened the scoring in the 9th minute through Yusuf Banky who made no mistake finishing the chance he got. The match was still evenly contested and Central Railway’s attempts to equalise were denied by a strong Warriors defence. At half time the Mumbai Warriors lead 1-0.
The second half promised to be end to end and the story was similar. Both teams did exceptionally well over. A balanced approach between attack and defence. The best minutes of the match arrived in the final ten minutes. A roller coaster of a ride going through the last ten minutes plus stoppage time. Asif Jamal equalised for the Central Railway MD side and we were in for one hell of a finish. In the 89th minute, Mumbai Warriors were awarded a penalty which angered the Central Railway team. But Yusuf Banky made no mistake from the spot to slot home the penalty and make it 2-1 in the Warriors’ favour. And then Banky completed his hattrick in the 92nd minute getting all three points for the Warriors in the bag. Kasif Jamal pulled one back for Central Railway in the 95th minute. But the game was done and dusted.
