U-15 Youth League: Kenkre FC snatch a late winner

The U-15 Youth League resumed at Cooperage on Friday evening. Football School of India (FSI) met IFSA – Mumbai Rush, while Kenkre FC locked horns against Indian Football Academy (IFA).
In the first match, a strong second-half display gave FSI all three points in a crucial Maharashtra Zone match at Cooperage. After a great start, IFSA were left on back foot when FSI started to take control of the match with a dominant display, especially in the midfield.
Although it was the second-half when FSI stepped up their game and started to look like favorites to snatch a win. Midway into the second-half, FSI’s resilience finally paid-off. Yashwardhan More find the back of the net with a spectacular free-kick from almost 35-yards, leaving IFSA’s goalkeeper with absolutely no chance to keep the effort out. The goal turned out to be crucial as FSI recorded an important win.
In the second and final match of the day, Kenkre FC snatched a late winner after displaying a splendid performance against IFA to win the tie 3-2. Right from the kick-off, Kenkre FC looked lethal in front of goal. The boys in navy-blue opened the scoring midway into the first-half.
A delightful through ball by Manan Dang found Rishab who was one-on-one with the onrushing goalkeeper; the number 8 cut past the goalkeeper and scored a sublime goal to give Kenkre FC a vital lead.
A couple of minutes later, Kenkre’s winger Aman scored from close-range to double the lead. But IFA responded brilliantly after going 2-0 down in the first 25 minutes. They soon pulled a goal back when Siddhant Shetty scored a superb goal in the first-half to keep IFA’s hope alive.
IFA played superbly in the second-half and with the match going towards Kenkre’s way, a flying header by Shlok leveled the score for IFA in a spectacular move. But there was a late twist in the match as a superb counter-attack move by Kenkre FC saw them snatching a late winner, courtesy of Arya’s fine strike.
