Super Division: Saddam Shaikh nets winner for Millat FC

Super Division

Super Division26th November 2017, Mumbai: The opening game of MDFA – Mumbai District Football Super Division went underway on Sunday evening with Millat FC playing HDFC in an eventful clash at Goan Ground, Churchgate.

Millat FC showed persistence as they overcame HDFC 1-0 to start their campaign on a winning note.  A solitary goal in the second-half by Saddam Shaikh proved enough to take all three points.

Millat FC started brightly. They kept pressing high to dispossessed HDFC who sat back and soaked the pressure from Millat FC.

Millat FC’s Captain Rayyan Shaikh was unarguably the best player on the field who sat back and created numerous opportunities by playing long-balls.

After failing to convert their chances in the first-half, Millat FC finally broke the deadlock in the 58th minute when Rayyan found an on-rushing Saddam Shaikh with a delicate long-ball, the latter made no mistake to put his effort past HDFC’s Goalkeeper Prakash Chauhan.

For HDFC, Melroy Fernandes and Titus Uttankar had a good game but Millat’s backline stood firm and composed at the back to record a hard-fought win against a tricky HDFC side.
