Springfield comeback falls short as Dena Bank triumph in a seven-goal thriller
Mumbai: Dena Bank edged Springfield FC by 4-3 in their Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA), Super Division match held at St Xavier’s ground, Parel on Saturday, March 25th, 2017.
Dena Bank and Springfield FC were involved in a seven-goal thriller on Saturday. A game of two halves it can be said. The first half belonged to Dena Bank undoubtedly while the second one went to Springfield FC.
Dena Bank started the better of the two sides opening up with a few beautiful moves. And they were quickly rewarded in the very 1st minute when Himanshu Patil put them in front. Shoaib Vindani doubled their lead in the 17th minute. Himanshu scored his second in the 29th minute. Springfield found themselves 3-0 down and just when it looked like they would respond Yusuf Ansari netted the 4th goal leaving Dena Bank side on cloud nine. Sprinfield did well to prevent more damage as the score remained 4-0.
Akshay Shetty put Springfield on the board in the 36th minute and Mayur Bhabal scored their second in the 1st half stoppage time. At half time Dena Bank lead 4-2 and it was a half that had turned out to be a goal fest.
In the second half Springfield started where it left off scoring the 3rd in the 60th minute. Akshay Shetty scored his second of the match. The equalizer was made elusive for the Springfield side by a stern defensive display from Dena Bank.
The match ended 4-3 in Dena Bank’s favor but we did see Springfield bounce back from the dead to make it an intense affair. For Dena Bank its three vital points. For Springfield FC they will be looking to stay calm in the next match and prevent the early onslaught from the opposition.
