Spartans Academy baffle Goregaon F.C with a 2-1 victory

5^th January 2017, Mumbai: A First Division match was played between Goregaon F.C in the Black & Orange outfit and Spartans Academy wearing the Dark Blue colour on the afternoon of 5^th January 2017, at St. Xavier’s Ground, Parel.

An early goal looked on the cards for the team in Blue as Rohit Jersey no. 19 with the ball in the Midfield quickly turns himself facing towards the opponent’s goal & banging in a long range from 35 yards in the 2^nd minute of play.

22^nd minute saw a Penalty conceded by the trailing side as their keeper attempts a foul on the blue team player, the penalty was later taken by Jersey no.9 Vikrant Bhalerao who lashes it in the left bracket of the post with keeper nowhere near it.

Goregaon S.C trying their best for a comeback but are stopped by the Spartans Keeper Sachin Tandale as he has been the man on guard with a couple of incredible saves.

Half Time score ended up 2-0 in favour of Spartans Academy.

The 49^th minute saw the first Yellow card in the game for Libin Valiyavila from the trailing team player as he drags down the opponent player just outside the box.

Another yellow card of the game to Vikrant Bhalerao from the leading side with a missed timed challenge on the opponent player in the 52^nd minute.

What a Header from Sidharth Kushwaha Jersey no.29 for the Orange team as he pulls one back in the 60^th minute connecting in with a beautifully crossed ball from the right flank.

But that wasn’t enough as the full-time game ends in a 2-1 victory for Spartans.

Spartans Academy are now with 9 points in the 3rd place and Goregaon F.C stand 5^th with 5 points in Group D.
