Sohail Khatre’s second half brace inspires a Mumbai FC Reserves win over Bank Of India

Mumbai FC Reserves beat Bank of India by 3-1 in their Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA), Super Division, playoff match played on Saturday, 6th May 2017 at the Cooperage ground, Churchgate.

With the Mumbai FC Reserves side in top form this season, their performance against Bank Of India was another step in the right direction. With the Elite division, 1st and 2nd division wrapped up, we are nearing the Super Division soon.

Cooperage today witnessed a cracking second performance from the Mumbai FC Reserves who completely took the game away from Bank Of India. The first 30 minutes of the game saw a few chances created but none took as the score remained 0-0.

It was Vinyl Poojari who was on target in the 34th minute giving the Mumbai FC side a 1-0 lead. The lead lasted only for 10 minutes as Mitlesh Patil levelled the score at 1-1 just at the stroke of halftime. We head into the break at 1-1. The match evenly poised.

It was a treat from a neutral point of view as Mumbai FC Reserves demonstrated steel and character to finish off the game in the 2nd half. Sohail Khatri put the Mumbai FC Reserves side in front in the 61st minute. As they lead 2-1 throughout from there, Bank Of India put pressure consistently to level the match but the Mumbai team were resolute in defending keep them at bay. It was Sohail again who scored his brace, netting Mumbai’s 3rd goal in the 85th minute putting the game to bed. A two goal cushion is always more comfortable than a one goal difference, And from then on Mumbai FC Reserves went on to win 3-1.
