Sahil Mukane leads Salsette (A) to victory
30th November 2017, Mumbai: The fourth day of MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) Super Division saw Juhu Sparks locking horns against a tricky Salsette (A) side at the Mumbai Football Arena, Andheri.
Salsette (A) rode on Sahil Mukane’s twin strikes to defeat their counterpart Juhu Sparks 3-1 to open their Super Division campaign on a winning note.
Salsette made a great start after coming close to score twice in the first five minutes. They finally broke the deadlock when Sahil fired in his first goal of the campaign with a brilliant strike. Juhu Sparks responded well after going down 1-0 but it wasn’t enough to stop Salsette’s attack who doubled their lead in the 35th minute.
It was once again Sahil on the scoresheet who took advantage of Juhu Sparks’ defensive lapse and placed his effort past goalkeeper Sanil Pillay.
The second-half went underway on an even note. Both the sides took time to settle after the restart but it was Juhu Sparks who made the most out of the chances as they pulled a goal back. Sahil, Amit, Sikhar and Wertin combined brilliantly yesterday to cause problems for Juhu Sparks’ backline for throughout the game.
In the 65th minute, Christwel Joseph scored a sublime goal to put pressure back on Salsette. But seven minutes after conceding, Salsette restored their two goals lead when Amit Kantha made it 3-1 with a venomous strike into the back of the net.
Undoubtedly, it was Salsette’s day as they cruised to a comprehensive victory against a side who pretty much lacked the ‘spark’ upfront.
