SAFF U15 Women’s Championship: India beat Bhutan 3-0

India outclassed Bhutan 3-0 in the opener of the inaugural edition of the SAFF U-15 Womens Championship being held at the Mohammad Mostofa Kamal Stadium in Dhaka, Bangladesh today (December 17, 2017).

India vs Bhutan

In a completely one-sided encounter; Kritina Devi Thounaojam, Priyanka Devi Naorem and Pratiksha Lakra scored within twenty minutes into the game to put an end to Bhutan’s hopes of securing a point.

India opened the scoring as early as the 4th minute when Kritina Devi with a driving run in to the box fired a rasping shot past Bhutanese keeper to break the deadlock. What followed was a flurry of attacks with Priyanka doubling the lead in the 11th minute through a penalty. Five minutes later, overlapping defender Pratiksha etched her name on the score sheet after she took control of a through pass pushed by Kritina Devi to fire in at far post net with a looping right footer as the score line read 3-0.

In the 64th minute, substitute Niketa Bishi almost made it 4-0 after her shot was acrobatically saved by the diving fist of Bhutanese goalie Karma Yuden. The game ended at 3-0 as India picked all three points. In other game, host Bangladesh hammered six past a hapless Nepalese team to pick all three points and top the group table.

India next face Nepal while host Bangladesh face Bhutan on December 19.
