RCF Colony books their place in Holy Cross ‘Supremo Chashak’ final

12th November 2017, Mumbai: After two successful editions, Holy Cross Football Club kick-start the third season on a positive note when the first-day of ‘Supremo Chashak 2017’ concluded on Sunday evening at Holy Cross Football Ground, Kurla. This year, the Tournament is sponsored by MLA Mr Sanjay Kotnis who is also the founder of NGO Supremo Chashak.
Prior to the kick-off, Father Pascal, Father Anselem and MLA Mr Sanjay Kotnis inaugurated the Tournament before being felicitated by the Holy Cross members. A total of 16 teams battled for a place in the final on the first-day at Holy Cross Football Ground, Kurla. After an eventful day, RCF Colony went against all odds to book their place in the final of Supremo Chashak 2017 which will be played on 19th November at Holy Cross Ground. Over 16 teams will contest for the second finalist spot on the very same day.
Here is the Round-up of the 1st day:
First Round: St. Sebastian 2-2 Third Boys (St. Sebastian wins 3-2 on penalties)
In the opening game, prolific striker Troy Nunes opened the scoring for St. Sebastian with a sublime header before Russel doubled the lead. Third Boys responded well after scoring two quick goals to level the score, courtesy of Hitesh and Spencer’s clinical strike. St. Sebastian’s goalkeeper Sinclair turned out to be the hero when he brilliantly saved a penalty in the tie-breaker as they went marching towards the next round.
Dazzlers FC 1-6 Galvankar FC
What an incredible display by Galvankar FC. They registered a whopping 6-1 win over Dazzlers FC. Abhishek who was on top form notched a brilliant hat-trick before Thoi, Kashung, and Kiran scored one each to complete a memorable victory over Dazzlers FC.
Other Results: Crazy Boy’s 1-2 Fatima Boy’s, Tixter Boy’s 5-2 Jolly Boy’s, RCF Colony 4-1 Blasters ‘B, Vailankanni Hall Boys 2-2 Shetty Boys (Shetty Boys wins 4-3 on penalties).
Second Round – Galvankar FC 7-2 Goan Boys
Another goal-scoring tie saw Galvankar FC breezing past Goan Boys 7-2 to progress in the next round.
Thoi scored a brace, while Abhishek, Kashung, Kiran, Supam and Viraj got one each for Galvankar FC.
For Goan Boys, Zeon and Gary scored one each.
Shetty Boys 6-5 Tixter Boys
Easily the best match of the Tournament. An 11 goal thriller which saw Shetty Boys coming back from 2-0 down to win the match 6-5 against an energetic and spirited Tixter Boys’ side. Ligin and Shoaib scored twice, whereas, Guru and Shubham scored one each for Shetty Boys. Meanwhile, Zimik scored a sublime hat-trick for Tixter Boys with Chipa and Atharva netting one each.
Fatima Boys 0-5 RCF Colony
RCF Colony produced a stellar performance to sail past Fatima Boys with a 5-0 victory. Ranjit scored two fine goals which were followed by Kevin Patrick, Elvis, and Shanu’s goal.
Other Result: Unknown Boys 0-0 St. Sebastian (Unknown Boys wins 2-1 on penalties)
Quarter-Final: Unknown Boys 1-1 Shetty Boys (Unknown Boys wins 2-0 on penalties)
What an incredible display by both the sides. Shrikant scored for Unknown Boys but Shetty Boys pulled one back through Guru. The match went on penalties where Unknown Boys edged Shetty Boys 2-0 to progress into the semis.
Galvankar FC 2-4 RCF Colony
An end-to-end clash between Galvankar FC and RCF Colony saw the latter winning the tie 4-2 to set a clash against Unknown Boys in the semis. Abhishek and Supam scored one each for Galvankar FC, but RCF Colony responded brilliantly as they made a superb comeback to win the match 4-2. Elvis scored twice, while Krishna Naidu and Ranjit scored one each.
Semi-Final: RCF Colony 2-1 Unknown Boys
RCF Colony has booked their place in the Final of Holy Cross Football Tournament – Supremo Chashak 2017. In an intense encounter, RCF defeated Unknown Boys 2-1. Ranjit opened the scoring RCF before Shrikant equalized the score. Kevin Patrick restored the parity in the second-half which turned out to be the winning goal.
