Mumbai City FC gets a new nickname for the club


Although previously called as blue army in references to the club by many commentators or observers, the club decided to get a new nickname for themselves from fans.

Few weeks ago, Mumbai City FC announced that they would be naming a new nickname for the club with fans getting a chance to name it themselves. Thousands of fans posted nicknames like Mumbaikars, Mumbai Bullets, Royals, Bombay Boys, Mumba Boys being few of them.

The Club finally settled to the name – The Islanders

Previously the club was referred as Blue Army by ISL observers but with Bengaluru FC joining the league and who are also referred as ‘the blues’ by its fans and commentators alike, Mumbai City FC went ahead and decided to get a new nickname and giving the opportunity to fans to name the club themselves.
