MDFA 3rd Division: Victorians FC thumb Kenturians FC 3-0

20th August 2017, Mumbai: After a long gap, the new season of Mumbai District Football Association – MDFA is finally underway. The 3rd division kicked off earlier today at St. Xavier’s Ground, Parel.

Here is the brief of the upcoming season and the results from Gameweek 1.

For the first time in MDFA’s history, there are over hundred clubs, 112 clubs to be precise in the Third Division which is separated into 14 Groups.

This is a massive step towards the promotion and development of Football in Mumbai as more clubs and players will get opportunities to kickstart their Football careers.

P.D Hinduja and South Mumbai played the opening match of the season, whereas, Victorians FC played Kenturians FC in the second game at St. Xavier’s Ground.

Group A – P.D Hinduja and South Mumbai played out a closely contested match as the encounter ended in a stalemate.

Amol Kadam and Faheem Patel scored for P.D Hinduja and South Mumbai, respectively. Both the sides had enough chances to snatch away all three points but poor finishing in front of goal denied them the decisive goal.

Group B – In the second match of the day, Victorians FC thumped Kenturians FC 3-0 to kick-off their new season campaign on a positive note.

A brilliant attacking display turned out to be superior in front of a shaky defense of Kenturians. Yah Kharat opened the scoring in the 10th minute before Rahul Walmiki doubled the lead midway into the first-half.

In the second-half, Nitish Surve’s sublime strike wrapped up all three points for Victorians FC who started their campaign on high as they hope to make it to the 2nd division next season.
