MDFA 3rd Division: Renaissance, Palkaya FC pick up wins on day 2
After a cautious approach by teams on opening day which saw just 4 goals in 5 games with three of them a Goalless draw, the second day witnessed teams battling out for results.
The Day began with Palkaya Football club coming up against Twinkle Star S.C. at St. Xavier’s Ground, Parel. Palkaya surged into 2-goal lead early in the first half as Twinkle Star’s defence failed to deal with the early pressure of Palkaya strikers. Vilas Palkaya opened the scoring in the very second minute which was followed by a Kiran Jadhav strike, in the 23rd minute. Although Twinkle S.C. improved as the game wore on, it was not enough to reduce the early deficit.
Day 2, Group F, Game 1: Palkaya Football Club 2 (Vilas Palkaya 2’, Kiran Jadhav 23’) – 0 Twinkle star S.C.
The second game saw a much even contest between Madapura and Athletic Club of Mumbai. Although a momentary lapse from Athletic defence in the middle of second half, was enough for Madanpura’s Ansari Munaib to score the only goal of the game. Neither side managed to finish off the chances created as the game trudged on to full time with just a goal separating them.
Day 2, Group G, Game 2: Madanpura (Ansari Munaib 25’) 1 – 0 Athletic Club Mumbai

The third game saw Renaissance topple IIT Bombay (B) by two goals. Early strikes in each half were enough to beat the IIT Bombay side. While Sylester Chunekar opened the scoring in the 5th minute, Lordson Soares doubled the lead in 46th minute.
Day 2, Group C, Game 3: IIT Bombay (B) 0 – 2 Renaissance (Sylester Chunekar 5’, Lordson Soares 46’)
The last match witnessed an attacking game as four goals were exchanged between Azad Nagar Utsav Samiti and Storm Chaser F.C. The game began at a breakneck speed as Azad Nagar took an early lead when Hrithik Mhatre’s strike in the seventh minute made it 1-0. But soon Storm Chaser F.C. came back with all guns blazing as Chinmay Shegle equalised quickly six minutes later. However it was the twin goals from Akshay Matal in the space of three minutes that sealed the deal for Storm Chasers.
Day 2, Group E, Game 4: Azad Nagar Utsav Samiti 1 (Hrithik Mhatre 7’) – 3 Storm Chaser F.C. (Chinmay Shegale 13’, Akshay Matal 23’,25’)
