MDFA 3rd division: Renaissance make it five wins in row to top group C

A fifth win for Renaissance sends them to the top of group C table while in other game Soccerstars were held on to a goal less draw by Koli Boys

With two games in hand against other group teams, a win would have sent the Soccerstars just four points adrift the top spot. However a disappointing result for Soccerstar Rudra FA (B) ensued as they played out a goal less draw against Koli boys in a group D fixture of 3rd division. The draw keeps at fifth spot in the table with seven points in five games.

Game 1: Soccerstar Rudra FA (B) 0 – 0 Koli boys (Mulund)

In the second game of the day, ten men Azad Nagar Utsav Samiti put up a determined effort to edge Creek View FC 1-0. Despite Pratik Bagwe getting sent off Tejas Salian’s second half strike gave Azad Nagar their first win of the tournament.

In the final third division game, Renaissance edged Soccer Club to go two points clear at top of Group C table. A win for either team would have sent the winner to the top spot but it was Renaissance, who continued their winning streak with a fifth win of the tournament. John Jenson’s 24th minute strike sent Renaissance through to the top spot with 15 points and a game in hand against group C’s second best team IIT Powai B.
