Don Bosco Coach Leslie Machado’s post match comments on MSSA U16 final

Yesterday, Matunga-based school Don Bosco once again crowned as the MSSA (Mumbai School Sports Association) Boys U16 Champions after registering a 3-0 victory against Campion (Colaba). Coach Leslie Machado discussed the match exclusively with Footballcounter after the post match presentation.

Over the years, no other school has become so synonyms with football than Don Bosco as the Matunga-based school has managed to dominate the MSSA like no other side.

After being asked the reason behind their success, Coach Leslie Machado said: “The reason is that we have school sports divisions right from the second standard to ninth. Along with studies, we also concentrate on Sports.

We have separate periods for Sports, the same way other schools has Physical Education class. In that specific period, we look after sports like Football, Cricket, Hockey. That’s the reason we have categories from Under-8 side to Under-16,” Leslie added.

In the second-half, Coach Machado asked the players to go all in and attack, suggesting them that a single goal will definitely follow up with more couple of goals.

“I said ‘go all out’, don’t play defensive. If we score one, we will score more. That’s exactly what happened in the second-half as we played brilliantly throughout,” Leslie said.

Leslie Machado also admitted that his Don Bosco side played like a unit throughout the tournament.

“Honestly saying, we played like a unit. It was a full team work. Our hard work back in School helped us in making our team strong,” Leslie concluded.
