Kingfisher East Bangal To Better Stats Against Mumbai FC

Kolkata: Hot on the heels of four back-to-back wins, a first since November 2012, Kingfisher East Bengal will look to break Mumbai FC hoodoo in a Hero I-League tie at the Barasat Stadium here on Wednesday.

Top of the heap on better goal difference over Mohun Bagan, the red and golds, who pummelled wooden spooners Minerva Punjab FC by scoring five unanswered goals in their last game, will go into the match high on confidence.

But against Mumbai, the Kolkata giants have won two fewer wins (4) than their counterparts (6) in their 16 meetings till date while six matches have ended in draws.

But the return of top draw India centre back Arnab Mondal, who has been out since the start of the season, should be music to the home team’s ears.

“Arnab trained this morning. I would like to think he could be involved in the squad tomorrow,” Morgan said on the eve of the game.

Trinidad and Tobago forward Willis Plaza said his aim is to win the league for his new club.

“I am not hundred percent satisfied with my performance. It will get better. My target is to win the I-League and score a lot of goals,” the 29-year old who has impressed one and all with his trickery, said.

Morgan though is not ready to become complacent just yet and said the team can still do better and there is no way they can be satisfied with what they are doing.

“We can all do better. We can never be satisfied with what we are doing. Our strongest point is that we are a team and play as a team,” the Briton said.

Mumbai FC, on their part, will look to get back to winning ways after three consecutive reversals. They are currently placed sixth in the points table.

Coach Santosh Kashyap said the side has no injuries and are eager to turn the tide after a recent spate of poor shows.

“We need to win and will give our best tomorrow. We have no injury concerns.”

The match will kick off at 07:00 PM and it’ll be broadcast live on Ten 2.
