Kerala Blasters vs Mumbai City FC: Strenghts, weakness, and player to watch out

Kerala Blasters will aim to secure their first win of this campaign as they go head-to-head vs Mumbai City on Sunday at the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium, Kochi, aiming to renew their rivalry.

Both teams are yet to have satisfactory results so far in this edition, and both will be looking to flourish their chances in the early. Kerala Blasters had not scored a goal till now, and have drawn their first two encounters, while, on the other side, Mumbai City FC played three, winning one, and losing the other two.

Let’s have a look at the strengths, weakness, and the player to watch out for both the sides.

Kerala Blasters

Strengths

The excellent performance from their custodian Paul Rachubka and their defence has helped them a lot in staying strong at the back. Paul Rachubka and Sandesh Jhingan, in particular, had an impressive game against the new entrants Jamshedpur FC.

Sandesh Jhingan’s commanding ability, Nemanja towering presence, Lalruatthara’s buoyed at the left flank, and the experience of Rino Anto will have to keep the momentum at the back for Kerala Blasters, and so would be Rene thinking.

Weakness

A toothless band of attackers! Despite having a lethal attackers upfront, Kerala Blasters has been toothless so far, so are the stats suggesting. The versatile, and yet fatal attackers of Kerala Blasters have not found time to impress and the cure to this problem will help Rene see off his first victory.

Player to watch out

Wes Brown- It’s not yet clear whether this former Manchester United defensive stalwart will start or nor, but it’s clear that the player has completely returned from the injury. Since Sandesh Jhingan and Nemanja Lakic Pesic are performing a great play for the Sachin co-owned ISL side, it’s a thing to watch whether Rene will opt for him or not, but if opted, he could bring back the confidence of his side and could lead his side to better achievements.

Mumbai City FC

Strength

Despite failing to keep the possession in all the games they’ve played, what helped Mumbai till now is the presence of athletic attackers in the squad. The team will again have to rely on this agile men upfront to penetrate past the much stronger Kerala defense.

Weakness

Feeble defense is the problem of the Mumbai City FC this season. Despite the services of players like Lucian Goian, Marco Rosario secured for his side, the defenders have not yet risen up to the performance expected from them. It was indeed the individual talent of Amrinder Singh which kept many of the shots to the goal at the bay.

Playing against Kerala Blasters, whose attackers are being lethal with the movement of time. Guimares will form a good tactics and disciplines at the back if he wants to comeback with a victory.

Player to watch out

Amrinder Singh – The Indian international, Amrinder had already faced three tough games, and he was tested often by the attackers of the opponents. It was vital touches that helped Mumbai win at least one, and the camp will again focus on his performance if the dilemma’s at the back is not yet concluded.
