JMJ emerge champions of MDFA Third Division League 2016-17, SRS Sporting Skills FC grab third spot

The victorious JMJ (Jesus Mary Joseph) team, which emerged champions of the MDFA Third Division crown, are all smiles after their victory against Maurya FA in the final at the St. Xavier’s ground, Parel on Thursday.

Mumbai: JMJ (Jesus Mary Joseph) SC emerged champions winning the Third Division title in the Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA) League 2016-2017 against Maurya F.A in the final played at the St. Xavier’s ground, Parel on Thursday evening.

The JMJ side came good in the second period and scored three goals during this period to record an authoritative 3-0 win. The favourite side to win the title was JMJ as they were unbeaten throughout and they did not disappoint.

With a stable and consistent lineup throughout, JMJ dominated the match. The strategy for Maurya F.A were well for the first half as they kept the JMJ side at bay with a 0-0 scoreline.

In the second half, the JMJ side was instrumental in unlocking the defense and banging three goals to lift the title. Vishal Kapse netted in the 42nd minute while Sheldon Sharma doubled the lead in the 43rd minute to give JMJ a two-goal cushion. It was Daniel Fernandes who scored the third for the JMJ side in the 50th minute with the assist coming from Sheldon Sharma. Any attempts from Maurya F.A to make a comeback looked dull as JMJ were crowned champions of the MDFA Third Division.
