Jeje led India to a 2-0 victory over Nepal

6th June, 2017: Team India hosted Nepal in the International Friendly match at Mumbai Football Arena, Andheri Sports Complex on Tuesday evening.

Stephan Constantine’s men showed immense determination to seal a comfortable 2-0 win. This is India’s second consecutive victory at Mumbai Football Arena. India started off brightly and dominated the first-half completely. Stephan Constantine’s tactic of pressing worked liked a charm as the Men in Blue created numerous openings in the first-half itself.

Midfielder Holicharan Narzary dominated the flanks with his dangerous crosses. Striker Robin Singh missed a couple of clear chances which could have given India an early lead. The best chance of the first-half from India came in the 23rd minute when Jackichand’s clinical cross met Robin Singh whose header went just wide.

Nepal almost surprised the whole arena when Sujal Shrestha missed an open goal, having gone past Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, the midfielder only managed to hit his shot wide.

The deadlock was finally broken in the 60th minute when Jeje Lalpeklua brilliantly set up defender Sandesh Jhingan who volleyed past Kiran Kumar to open the scoring.  Midway through the second half, Nepal’s Captain Biraj Mahajan was sent off who pulled back Jeje just outside the box. India took the advantage and scored the second and final goal to seal the game.

Mohammed Rafique went past three defenders at the right flank and delivered a clinical ball across the face of the goal to Jeje who calmly scored past Kiran Kumar to continue his fine form.
