The under 16 team that came together early in the April for the India-Egypt Friendship Cup have been ever since on roll. After comfortably beating the Egyptian teams like Al Ahly SC and Smouha SC followed by the U15 SAFF Cup victory in Nepal, the team was sent to Qatar on an exposure trip in preparation for their upcoming U16 AFC 2018 Qualifiers.

The team didn’t disappoint, after beating the Qatar team 1-0, Indian colts faced off against one of the best clubs of Qatar Al Sadd SC were an injury time penalty denied Indians the win. However, the team shot back yesterday against Al Duhail SC with a complete dominating performances, winning the game 5-0.

The game began with Ravi converting a Givson cross in the very 3rd minute opening the floodgates for more. Vikram almost doubled the lead in the 20th minute when his attempt whizzed inches far. However Ravi doubled the lead in the 39th minute as the teams went into break with the Indian colts leading 2-0

In the second half it was Vikram who netted the third goal for India five minutes after the hour-mark. Soon Givson, who had been brilliant thoughout the night, etched his name on the score sheet in the 73rd minute, having rattled the back of the net from a direct free-kick.

Soon super-sub Harpreet who scored the second goal the other night once again was on mark as he completed the fifer eight minutes to the end of the regulation time. The game ended with the score 5-0 in favour of visitors

The Bibiano Fernandes-coached team is set to visit Nepal again for 2018 AFC U-16 qualifiers, after the SAFF win last month. India are placed in group D alongside Iraq, Palestine and host Nepal. The ten group winners and the five best runners-up qualify for the final tournament.
