In-form Mumbai Customs set to face MS Police
2nd December 2017, Mumbai: Mumbai Customs is set to face MS (Maharashtra State) Police when both the outfits will meet later today in their MDFA – Mumbai District Football Association Elite Division encounter at Mumbai Football Arena.
This will be Customs’ fourth match, while MS Police will be playing their third match of the campaign. In Customs’ previous match, they somehow manage to edge past a determined Kenkre FC side who dominated them for the majority of the match. It was midfielder Ashrafali Makandar who headed home from Francisco Salin’s cross to clinch a crucial win.
Earlier in the same match, goalkeeper Liyaz Kaya had saved Leander Dharmai’s penalty and experience defender Hekmat Singh had cleared an attempt off the line. Besides having the likes of Liyaz, Hekmat, Ashrafali, Customs also have Francisco Salin and Praneel Mendon who has been quite instrumental for their sides over the years. Currently, Mumbai Customs are second in the table with two wins and a draw from three games.
Their opponent MS Police is playing their second consecutive Elite Division campaign after gaining promotion from Super Division. This will be their third match of the season after losing out to Union Bank of India (UBI) and drawing against PIFA Colaba recently.
The 1-1 draw against PIFA was quite a match. Throughout the match, MS Police was the better side and it was in the 57th minute when they conceded a penalty which resulted in an equalizer. Goalkeeper Akash Vharamble was outstanding who made few spectacular saves to rescue MS Police with their first point of the season.
It will quite interesting to see how Customs will approach an energetic MS Police side later today at Mumbai Football Arena.
