FC Pune City vs Delhi Dynamos: Strength, Weakness & Players to watch out

As Indian Super league season enters it 2nd week, Delhi Dynamos and FC Pune City prepare for their first game of the season tomorrow (22th November)

Two teams with contrasting history face other for their first game of season 4 of Indian Super League looking to start off on high. While Delhi had tasted quite a success under Zambrotta last year, Pune has failed to reach Knockouts in any of the three seasons.

Lack of goals has been the major reason for FC Pune City’s poor record in ISL. The Club has seen just 42 goals being scored in its three season of existence the least among all ISL clubs that have been around for the same time. Pune have tried to change that scenario this season getting proven ISL performers in the attacking line up

FC Pune City:

Strength: Unlike previous season, Pune’s biggest strength this season will be their attacking trident. ISL 3 Golden boot winner Marcelinho along with top Indian goal scorer Kean Lewis for last season will be threat to any teams while Emiliano Alfaro too was NEUFC top scorer last season.

Weakness: FC Pune City replaced Antonio Habas with new gaffer Ranko Popovic after the draft. Unlike other club coaches FC Pune City coach Ranko Popovic didn’t get much to say about player signings and had to work with players he has, which could backfire and will only be cleared after the teams plays few games.

Players to watch out:

Marcelinho: The ISL 3 golden boot winner was a treat to watch taking ISL by storm and will be once again raring to go. Marcelinho scored 10 goals and assisted 5 times in 15 games and will test any opponents defence.

Delhi Dynamos:

Strength: Strong Indian contingent with players like I league winner Albino Gomes and Indian National team right back Pritam Kotal. Along with them former Mumbai City FC player Sena Ralte features for Delhi this year, Sena Ralte had the highest interceptions made last year by an Indian record to his name and along with Albino was the regular part of Mumbai City FC’s nine clean sheets of ISL 3.

Weakness: Apart from Kal Uche at front and Romeo Fernandes at wings, Delhi’s forward lineup and for that matter any of the other foreign player are untested in ISL and will miss the dynamic fluidity of Florient Malouda from last two seasons.

Players to watch out:

Kal Uche: The Nigerian has played in India before and it was for none other than Pune themselves in the 2015 season returning with 4 goals in 11 games. The forward has looked quite good in pre-seasons and his experience in Pune conditions would count for Delhi.
