Dr Nitu Mandke Memorial Cup to kick-off from 23rd January

Mumbai, 19th January 2016: The Dr Nitu Mandke Memorial Cup 2017 or also known as the MDFA’s Republic Cup Tournament sponsored by Mumbai United and Indian Football Academy is scheduled to kickoff from January 23, 2017. A 4-days of an extra-galvanize event including 24 teams will be locking horns against each other divided into two pools.

The knockout tournament consisting 11-a-side with 25 minutes each half, will be played at the historical St Xavier’s football ground of Parel, on the 23rd, 24th, 25th and 26th of January 2017.

Last edition’s champions Mumbai FC Colts are not featuring but there are teams like Air India U-19, Kenkre U-19, Century Rayon and Dena Bank having full potential to prove their metal.

As the proceeding matures, the match day time elongates till night time when Parel’s St Xavier’s ground will glow in floodlight, dawning MDFA’s matches in a different light for the first time.

This is the MDFA’s only tournament providing an opportunity to the lower division teams to blend with superior division teams and explore their ability.
