Chennaiyin FC vs FC Goa Player Ratings: How did the players fare.

In what was a captivating game, FC Goa trounced the former champions Chennaiyin FC in the third match of the fourth edition. The rivalry between these sides are known for its fierceness, and the outcome was a great battle in the home of the Marina Machans. It was the early flaws made by the Chennaiyin, which helped FC Goa edge past them for 3-2.

Let’s take a look at how the players were fared.

Karanjith Singh – 5

Chennaiyin’s  custodian, Karanjith didn’t had a good game at the office. Despite making three wonderful saves, Karanjith conceded the same amount in the first half, helping FC Goa take the dominance early.

Inigo Calderon Zapateria- 8

Inigo was one of the best men on the field for the Chennaiyin. He was the one who scored the first goal for Chennaiyin, and he was solid at the back, making few good interceptions and blocks.

Henrique Sereno – 7

He performed well at the back, and was consistent throughout the show. Sereno, who was the hero of ATK in the previous edition managed to make 5 clearances and 5 interceptions, and also made few good crosses into the box

Jerry Lalrinzuala – 6

The ‘Emerging Player’ of the previous season, Jerry Lalrinzuala had a decent game vs the Gaurs. Jerry did few good denials, and was among those who suffered many fouls.

Mailson Alves – 5

Mailson had a bad day at the office as he failed to keep the fatal FC Goa attackers at its bay. Known for his firmness at the back, Mailson made only a scanty impact for the Chennaiyin as his presence was severely exploited by the FC Goa.

Dhanachandra Singh – 4

Akin to that of Alves, Singh also had a dreadful evening at their home. He was silent throughout the game, and was  only able to make measly impact with only 3 clearances in account.

Rapheal Augusto – 9

The best men on the field for the Gregory Nelson’s revamped side, the wizard in Rapheal Augusto played a relevant role in decreasing the deficit to 1. He ran the riots in the midfield, and was able to dominate the wings.

Rene Mihelic – 5

The reason why FC Goa had the early dominance was the apathetic play of the Chennaiyin in the midfield. Rene Mihelic was unable to keep the FC Goa midfielders at the bay, and he obviously failed to orchestrate the play for the Chennaiyin from the centre of the pitch.

Thoi Singh – 6

Akin to that of Rene Mihelic, Thoi Singh failed to outdo the FC Goa defenders, although he has 5 crosses in account. He failed to reach the mark expected from him, but was a threat throughout the game though.

Jeje Lalpekula – 6

One of the of best of the nation, Jeje Lalpekula failed to make any huge impact in the game. A player known for his exploitation and control, Jeje failed to create any chances for his side, and was unable to launch any fatal crosses.

Baoringdao Bodo – 5

The youngster, Bodo had an awful debut in the Indian Super League. Despite Gregory giving him a chance, young Bodo was unable to fit the shoes as his presence was not so worthwhile for his side.

Laxmikant Kattimani – 5

Similar to that of the rivals custodian, Kattimani had a modest day at the office despite FC Goa sealing a hard fought victory. Kattimani conceded two in the second half one of which was a school boy error, while he was able to make few good saves though.

Narayan Das – 6

Narayan Das had a prudent at the flanks. He was able to stay rigid throughout the game, and managed to apply few successful blocks and interceptions.

Bruno Pinheiro – 7

Bruno Pinheiro was an indispensable factor at the back for the Gaurs against Chennaiyin. Bruno managed to make 7 clearances as well as took 4 free kicks throughout the game.

Benny Fernandes – 6

Benny Fernandes was both solid and aggressive at the flanks. He governed the play strictly at the flanks for the Gaurs, and also had time to employ few good interceptions.

Mohammed Ali – 7

Rock solid at the back, Ali had a huge day at the office. He stood stern to deny many lethal attacks, as he has more than half a dozen interceptions in his account.

Ahamed Jahouh – 8

Ahamed Jahouh did well along with Lanzarote and Mandar in dictating the play for the visitors. He not had helped the midfielders, he was there to assist the defenders, to thwart the Chennaiyin attacks.

Mandar Rao Desai – 8

Mandar Rao has a fare share in this hard fought victory of Goa. Mandar was decisive in the midfield for the Gaurs, and he helped them score one, and bagged another himself too.

Manuel Lanzarote Bruno – 9

The Hero of the match, Bruno performed a dazzling display to give FC Goa a positive start to the new edition. Manuel was there to help FC Goa score, assisted another, took their set-pieces and helped the defense with little bit of assist.

Brandon Fernandes – 8

One of the standout performers of the evening, Brandon has proved it out to the world, the fact that he has the potential to dominate the national jersey for the coming years. He was good throughout the match, as he made many chances for his teammates, and provided them with one assist too.

Eduardro Bedia Pelaez – 7

With an incredible stat of 94% passing accuracy, Bedia had an integral role in demolishing the Chennaiyin FC. Bedia stunned the fans with his accurate passes throughout the game, and he also made a few good shots, though still far away from the target.

Ferran Corominos – 7

Akin to that of his co-players, Ferran also had a decent game for the Gaurs. He created 3 chances and had 2 shots at the target, even though neither pierced past the Karanjith’s goal.
