Charged up Mumbai girls emerge champions

Mumbai, February 18: A charged up Mumbai District FA in impressive fashion claimed the top honours in the Maharashtra State Inter-District Sub-juniors Girls’ football championship 2016-17, organised by the Dhule District FA. In the summit clash, the Mumbai girls’ were in a class of their own and outplayed Pune District FA by a convincing 3-0 margin at the Pharmacy College ground, Dhule on Saturday.

Strikers Kyra Aggarwal, Valencia D’Mello and Sai Sanke were responsible for scoring the goals for the champions, who led 1-0 at the break.

The Mumbai outfit, were better organised in every department and enjoyed the better of exchanges and took the lead in the 18th minute through Kyra Aggarwal.

After switching ends, the dominant Mumbai side struck two more goals through Valencia D’Mello in the 39th minute and Sai Sanke in the 49th minute to secure the triumph.

Results (semi-finals): Mumbai DFA 3 (Kyra Aggarwal 18th , Valencia D’Mello 39th, Sai Sanke 49th) beat Pune DFA 0.
