Air India thumps Central Bank of India 3-0

18th January 2017: One of the city’s finest team Air India met Central Bank of India (CBI) in the MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) Elite Division match at Cooperage Stadium on Wednesday.
The Red’s continued their brilliant form as they romped The Bankers 3-0 to clinch yet another victory in the Elite Division. Central Bank of India’s resilience proved to be toothless in front of Air India’s talented side.
Godfrey Pereira’s side needed only nine minutes to open the scoring when Sunny Thakur set up in form Aaron D’Costa who calmly finished his effort into the back of the net to put Air India’s nose in front.
Both the sides had enough chances to score in the rest of the first-half, but poor finishing from both the set of attackers kept the scoreline 1-0 in the first-half.
In the second-half, The Reds soon doubled their lead when Captain Vijith Shetty’s precise corner was headed home by defender Pramod Pandey whose bullet header proved too good for CBI’s custodian Siddarth Lavande.
It was Air India’s midfield of Vijith, Mrunal, Aaron D’Costa and Sunny Thakur who caused problems for CBI throughout the match. Substitute Daniel Muthu killed the game off in the 61st minute from a stunning left-footed free kick which completed a remarkable 3-0 victory for Air India.
