6th Dec: Steadfast (A) and Alfresco FC register wins

6th December 2017, Mumbai: MDFA – Mumbai District Football Association on Wednesday witness two matches at St. Xavier’s Ground, Parel, 1st Division and 3rd Division each. In the first match of the day, Blitz Kriez faced Steadfast A in a tricky Group B encounter (1st Division) while Alfresco FC played Indian Football Academy (IFA) in Group H clash (3rd Division).

1st Division Group B – Blitz Kriez FC 1-3 Steadfast A 

On Wednesday afternoon, Steadfast (A) continued their fine form as they comprehensively breeze past Blitz Kriez FC 3-1 in the 1st Division encounter to maintain their top spot in Group B. This result meant that Steadfast (A) has won three matches in a row in the ongoing campaign, whereas, Blitz Kriez FC is yet to open their account as they lie eighth in the table.

In-form Shubham Jamdade opened the scoring in the 37th minute with a fine goal before Leighton Da’Costa made it 2-0 in the 50th minute after executing a brilliant counter-attacking move. Blitz Kriez were struggling to put Steadfast’s attackers at bay for throughout the match. Kabir Aswani put the game beyond doubt with a third goal in the 61st minute.Sebastian Raj did cut short the deficit in the 74th minute but it was nothing more than a consolation goal.

3rd Division Group H – Alfresco FC 2-1 Indian Football Academy (IFA)

Later on Wednesday, in a late kick-off, Alfresco FC registered their fourth win of the campaign with a narrow 2-1 win over Indian Football Academy in a Group H match at St. Xavier’s Ground, Parel. Alfresco are three points clear at the top after making it four wins out of six games so far. In the process, they have only conceded three goals with an astonishing goal difference of 10 goals.

Their counterpart Indian Football Academy, on the other hand, is yet to win a game this season. Pushpak Saini had opened the scoring in the 7th minute for IFA but Alfresco responded brilliantly to bag their fourth win of the season.
