10-man Indian Gymkhana sinks Millat FC (B)
25th December 2017, Mumbai: Christmas turned out to be quite a day for 10-man Indian Gymkhana as they registered a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Millat FC (B) in the Group C encounter of Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA) Second Divison at St. Xavier’s Ground, Parel under the floodlights.
Group C – Indian Gymkhana (Ayush Agarwal 8′ and Vijay Pandey 11′) 2-1 Millat FC ‘B’ (Shanawaz Saleji 45′)
Indian Gymkhana came into the match with one win in four games while Millat FC ‘B’ headed towards the anticipated clash as an undefeated side. With three wins from five games, Millat FC ‘B’ were favourites as they looked to snatch the top spot from FC Mumbaikars ‘A’.
Right from the kick-off, Indian Gymkhana dominated the match proceedings. They opened the scoring in the 8th minute through Ayush Agarwal’s sublime strike before Vijay Pandey doubled the lead in the 11th minute to firmly take control of the match.
Later in the match, Vijay was shown marching orders when he handled the ball in the penalty area. But he had already done his job after scoring the second goal.
Shanawaz Saleji pulled a goal back for Millat FC ‘B’ in the 45th minute but Indian Gymkhana stood firm and strong to defend their solitary lead and win their second game of the season.
