Vellankanni Boys thumps Das Football Academy

Vellankanni Boys thumped Das Football Academy by 3-0 to register a win in the Mumbai District Football Association(MDFA) First Division game held on Friday afternoon at St Xavier’s ground Parel.
Vellakanni Boys’ win was all down to converting the chances they got during the course of the match. Whereas Das Football Academy had themselves to blame not being clinical enough to take their chances.
The first goal came early in the 2nd minute when a lovely buildup from Vellakanni Boys found number 14 Nelson Pereira who made a smart run behind the defense giving them the lead. It was an offside trap from Das Academy which failed to materialize leading to the goal.
At 1-0 down Das Boys tried to create a string of chances which were dealt with calmly by the opposition defense. And just when they looked like equalizing Vellakanni Boys created a wonderful chance of their own through the center again beating the offside trap. The ball was shot onto the outward rushing keeper who made a diving save only for Roger Pereira to tap in the rebound.
At half time the game looked all over but Das Academy Boys were the brighter of the two to start the second half. They kept up the pressure from the right when winger Vishal Bellani cut in only to fire the shot over the top. Das Boys number 10 Parmar looked lovely combining with Vishal Bellani only to shoot wide off the goal. That moment in the game when it looked like they would score Vellankani Boys started a move of their own from the left hand side with Roger Pereira crossing in the ball for a simple tap in for number 23 Revel Kunder to make it 3-0.
It was all Vellakanni Boys after they had scored the third as they went ahead in search of fourth only to be denied by an offside. It has been a season of mixed fortunes for Das Football Academy who failed to capitalize on their chances and had themselves to blame for falling short of the goods. On the other hand the Vellakanni Boys can be proud of a clinical performance playing some neat football and converting their chances
