U16 Y League Maharashtra zone: FSI down Reliance young champs 3-0
First half goals from in quick succession from Kamran Siddiqui and Pruthvi Sawant secured FSI a 3-0 victory against Reliance Foundation Young Champs in the Maharashtra zone U16 Y league.
A game of two different physicalities and a much expected outcome was on display at the Father Agnel Vashi turf. The tiny tots from the Reliance foundation looked no match for the more well built boys from FSI but prooved the perception of a lay an wrong in the field, Reliance youth boys may not have a result to talk about but the game on display was fast and full of small moves trying to go big.
Reliance fell behind in the 12th minute when Kamran Siddiqui drilled his shot in the far post in a move similar just a couple of minutes age where winger Kartik Bele had failed to convert. Just after the restart Reliance goalkeeper Manik Baliyan was too lazy too go down for a collection and the ball rolled too easily for Pruthvi Sawant who punished the keeper for his mistake for FSI’s second in the 13th minute. With two goals in two quick minutes FSI were in a comfortable postion in the game very early on and moved very organised as they switched gears from defence to attack easily. Reliance Young Champs were no match for the well built FSI boys physically but moved very well on a lot of occasions. Reliance coach Marcus Vaessen encouraged his boys all throughout and his instructions mostly were to pick players matching the size. FSI lads easily won the ariel duels and blocked the Reliance kids very easily but this show of strength did not yield goals as expected, instead it was reliance who were on top of their defending and did not concede any more goals till the leamon break.
Second half looked a bit sharper for Reliance as the boys managed to contain the FSI strikers but yet another goalkeeping error saw FSI’s Kartik Bele score a third in the 55th minute. Reliance custodian charged too much for a floating free kick from half way thru but backed out at the last moment only to see the ball fall for Kartik and a empty goal awaited him. Reliance Young Champs did build up their attacks and even got close to scoring but the FSI goal was well covered and noting seemed to go past the FSI defence. Reliance failed to get a consolation when in the 57th minute Reliance won a penalty and Koustav Dutta stepped up to take the penalty. Koustav looked calm and composed but it just did not seem to be the day for Reliance as Koustav sent the ball to the right of the keeper who judged it well and got his palm behind the ball to deny Koustav and Reliance any comeback chances. For the remainder of the game FSI attacked and Reliance defended well to not concede any more.
Mohammed Kaif was judged as the man of the match for his strong defensive game.
