Sterkem Pharma play out a gripping 2-2 draw with Colaba FA

Sterkem Pharma rescued a point against Colaba FA in a 2-2 draw in the Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA) Second Division match held on 23rd August 2016 at St. Xaviers Ground, Parel.

Sterkem Pharma and Colaba FA both played an end to end game, tightening their formations, making sure that not too many men are committed forward at the beginning of the game itself. Colaba FA was gifted an early lead by Sterkem as Colaba’s Keval Pagdhani held his nerve to cranny a sublime finish past the dismayed goalkeeper in the 28th minute.

The second half saw Sterkem’s Vishnu Mulik showing a lot of intensity as he responded brilliantly to the earlier setback. Minutes after the second half kick-off whistle, Mulik intercepted the ball, breached Colaba’s defense and beautifully netted the ball in the 41st minute.

Fuelled with vigor to make it a 2-1, Childresh Tandel capitalized on some loose defending and with a loft ball, bundled another goal for Colaba FA in the 50th minute.

Thinking that the game is as good as won, Colaba FA grew over-confident and loosened up. Once again, Sterkem’s response to conceding a goal was fabulous as they took advantage of Colaba’s faux pas. Despite their best efforts, Colaba failed to keep hold of the ball and the pressure really built up when Sterkem’s Rohan Jadhav equalized the score for the second time in the 66th minute, just a couple of minutes away from the final whistle.

Both teams really pushed themselves hard to emerge as winners but excellent defending till the last minute compelled them to settle for a draw.
