Steadfast FC – Mumbai Rush SC loses out to DSK Shivajians in U-16 Youth League
Steadfast FC – Mumbai Rush SC met Pune-based club DSK Shivajians in their third match of Under-16 Youth League Maharashtra Zone at All Saints High School, Kalyan on Sunday noon. The host, unfortunately, had to suffer a 3-0 loss against a strong and gritty side of DSK.
Steadfast FC came into the match as undefeated after a 0-0 stalemate against PIFA Colaba and a solitary 1-0 win over Mumbai FC in their second game.
Umair Saiyyad, Harsh Bartwal, and Captain F. Malsawmtluanga scored one each for DSK Shivajians to register yet another victory in their Maharashtra Zone group.
Steadfast FC had a bright start and quickly settle into the game to control the match proceedings. But DSK had other plans to counter Steadfast’s strength.
Just when Steadfast started to take control, in the 9th minute, Laldawngkima brilliantly set up Umair Saiyyad who kept his composure and rolled his effort past Ashray Gandhi to open the scoring for DSK Shivajians.
DSK didn’t look back and started their dominance after breaking the deadlock. And, just before the half an hour mark, a loose ball by Umair Saiyyad found Harsh Bartwal on the edge of the box who went past his marker and scored DSK’s second goal of the game.
Abel Fernandes, Jonathan D’Souza, and Cornelius Rodrigues were among the standout players for Steadfast FC as they had a great match. Meanwhile, DSK Shivajians went into the break with a two goals lead to mounting the pressure on an energetic Steadfast FC side.
In the second-half, DSK Shivajians started from they left had left after causing serious troubles in the final-third. Steadfast FC’s backline stayed composed and intact until DSK’s Captain F. Malsawmtluanga put the match to bed after a sublime free-kick in the 78th minute.
Steadfast FC will be looking to bounce in the next game as the hunt to finish on top of Maharashtra Zone is still up for grabs.
