St Paul’s to lift the MSSA U-16 Boys Div IV Tittle

After a strong display against Rustomjee International school in the semi-final winning 4-1, St Paul’s, Dadar defeated St Rock’s, Andheri 4-2 in the penalty shootout  to seal the Mumbai Schools Sports Association (MSSA) U-16 boys Div IV inter-school football title at Cooperage on 23rd September, 2016.

St. Rock won 4-1 in the semi-final game against St. Elias High School. St Rock’s gave a fair fight to their opponent particularly keeper Shivam Chaudhary to St Paul having fair chances to hit the goal. The scoreline read 0-0 at full time.

The tie-breaker was nerve wrecking for the team having missed a kick each initially. At 3-2,  courtesy to goalkeeper Ashitosh Sitar awareness in the goal held the last St Rocks’s kick away. Joshua Lawson scored the winning kick for St Paul.

Ashitosh with a match-winning performance said “It feels good to contribute and it feels even better to win a trophy. We played really well. We have faced a lot of difficulties in this tournament, but we got through all of them,”

Ecstatic Malcolm Blakely, St Paul’s coach said “We feel that we don’t belong in Div IV and we are glad to go up too. We dominated the game and could have won it in regulation time, but that’s alright,”

St Paul, Dadar 4 – 2 St Rock, Andheri

(Scorers of St Paul: Cornelius Rodrigues, Berwyn D’mello, Praful Solanki, Lawson Joshua) (Sudarsh Kamble, Pasha Shaish)
