Sporting trounce Snows FA All India Bandodkar Gold Trophy Football Tournament

Sporting Clube de Goa opened their Bandodkar Gold Trophy campaign with a thumping 4 – 0 victory over Snow’s Selection at Duler Stadium on Sunday.

Ndidi Chukwuma (49’), Daryl Costa (65’), Moises D’Sa (70’) Brandon Gomes (88’) got on the score sheet for Sporting.

Duler 22nd May 2016: Sporting clube de Goa U 21 trounced Snows Football Academy Raia by 4-0 margin in the Group B match of the All India Bandodkar Gold Trophy Football Tournament, organized by GFA, played at Duler stadium, here on Sunday.

After a barren first session Sporting scored four goals through Ndidi Chukwuma, Daryl Costa, Moises D’Sa and Brandon Gomes.

Sporting’s Avrhishto Fernandes had the first good attempt at the ball only in the 10th minute, with a 25-yard strike which was collected by Snow keeper Beneston Barretto.Snow’s came with a fine built up move in the 14th minute through Carry Vaz and Desmond Pereira, but their attempt was stopped by Sporting keeper Selwyn D’Souza on entering the danger zone.

At the other end Sporting’s Nigrian Ddidi Chukwuma combined with Akeraj Martins, but failed to get past Snow’s keeper. Snow’s best chance of taking the lead came in the 30th minute but Steve Fernandes shot hit the defender for a corner.

Just five minutes into the second session and Sporting took the lead through Nigerian Ddidi Chukwuma who collected a cross from Harshad Naik hoodwinked stopper-back Brian Faria and slammed it into the goal.

In the 65th minute Daryl Costa who came from the bench drove a 25-yard stinging shot which crashed into the back of the Snow’s nylons, 2-0.Daryl almost doubled his lead but his shot from close was blocked on the goal line by Snow’s defender Valito Miranda, for a corner. Once again Daryl was unlucky as his strike off the corner hit the upright.

Sporting substitute Moises D’Sa, in the 70th minute stunned the defense and the rival keeper with a rasping strike from outside the penalty box for the third goal.Another Sporting substitute Brandon Gomes made a solo run from the right flank and entering the danger zone finished with a right footer, 4-0.

Man of the match award of Rs. 5000/- was handed over to Quan Gomes of Sporting by CEO of ZEST Mr. Rahul Rodrigues.
