Shankar Thakur does the trick again for Bank of India

On Wednesday, 21st December 2016, Bank of India played against St. Sebastian at Mumbai Football Arena, Andheri Sports Complex. Both the teams were holding each other tight in the first forty minutes which was thought to be a goalless first half however, Aishwary Berlekar proved himself again as he got the lead for the Blues in the 42nd minute before the first half where he got a throw in ball from Gaurav More just outside the box converting it into a powerful strike towards the far left bottom post of the goal with the keeper nowhere near it.
Ended up in a 1-0 lead for the Bankers, the first half also witnessed three yellow cards, one for the opponent’s Alex Peters and other two for Rakesh Mahto & Rupesh Meher from the winning side.
By the start of the second half, the Red and White squad got into the game with a high intensity, advanced well by Oscar Nunes in the 47th minute making it all square for his team and getting them back in the game.
A game that was expected to end up in a stalemate as both the teams were failing to capitalise their chances took a swift twist in the 86th minute as super sub Shankar Thakur dribbled past the stopper of St Sebastian who retaliated by getting him down in the scoring area. The foul in the box cost a yellow card to Azar Sayed & a penalty was awarded to the Bank of India, Shankar Thakur marked his importance once again just the way he has been scoring and assisting for the team since past two matches for the bankers as he stood up to an opportunity to score from the spot kick. The Bankers bagged all 3 points.
With this win, the Bankers score so far remains 100 per cent as they won all three matches.
