Sea View face Century Rayon in a cliffhanger 1st Division GROUP C game

Finally the day has arrived. Here it is, the big one. Probably one of the best match of the group stages. Yes you heard it correctly. Sea View vs Century Rayon is the group C match we are talking about. Probably the decider match in group C which will determine the progression of each of this teams depending on the outcome. This MDFA 1st division match takes place TODAY (18/02/2016) at Cooperage ground, Churchgate kicks off at 2pm.

Carmelites S.C have played all their games and are sitting comfortably at the top with 19 points with 6 wins, a draw and a loss. Their only loss came against Sea View whereas as they drew against the Naval Dockyard side. In these 8 matches Carmelites S.C have managed to keep four clean sheets, scoring 14 goals and conceding just 5 which means they have a goal difference of +9.

Turning our attention to the two big guns today, Sea View face a daunting task of overcoming a Century Rayon side who will not be in a mood to give away anything very cheaply. Talking about impressive performances, the Century Rayon outtings have been more than impressive. 7 matches played, 6 wins and a loss which means all their matches have had a concrete result. In this process they have managed to score 20 goals, conceding just 3 goals taking their goal difference tally to a staggering +17. 2 of those three goals were conceded in the 2-1 loss to Carmelites S.C

Well Century’s performances speak for themselves. Sea View are no where shy of impressive performances. A thumping 8-1 victory over Naval Dockyard has been their best performance. But they succumbed to a 6-0 loss at the hands of St Paul’s S.C which was not a surprise or a shocker by any means. In the 6 matches played Sea View have managed to score 18 goals, conceding 11 goals which means their goal difference is +7. Well the 6 of those 11 came in one game goes to show that this could dent their hopes of qualifying if it came down to goal difference

So guys , the bottom line being this group C match promises to be a cliff hanger. Anything could happen and hey all three results are possible. But let us take you through the possible outcomes of this match and how the result affects the standings

  1.  Century Rayon beat Sea View and qualify from the group as table toppers on 21 points with Carmelites S.C going through second on 19 points. Which means Sea View’s final game against Sahyadri KM will just be a formality.
  2.  Sea View beat Century Rayon and are tied on points with them i.e 18 points each. After which the   last game becomes significantly important considering that a draw  against Sahayadri KM would take Sea View over the line as well.
  3. The match ends in a draw. Well Well Well!!! Then we would have to consider the goal differences. If this match ends in a draw Century would have 19 points, Carmelites already on 19 points. Whereas Sea View will be on 16 points. And let us say they beat Sahyadri then they go on 19 points as well. Carmelites have a gd of +9, Century are on +17 whereas Sea View are on +17.

So as you all read the possibilities and the nerve wrecking outcomes possible. This game truly defines the season of either one of those teams who could ahead in the playoffs. Hope to see you at Cooperage for this big one. Cheers!!!
