Bhagyashree Dalvi selected for India's U-20 side

Sanpada girl Bhagyashree Dalvi, age 16 is the only footballer from Maharashtra who has been selected in the 20-member Indian under-16 girl’s national team to represent the country at the ensuing AFC (Asian Football Confederation).

She will participate in U-16 girl’s championship qualifiers in Wei Feng, China. The event is scheduled to be held from August 28 to September 5. Dalvi also has lead the Maharashtra squad at the under-15 nationals held at Cuttack last year.

Her selection to team India came after the national camp held at SAI Centre Patiala, Punjab recently. The team left on August 25th. It’s her second successful International streak after participating in Asian Football Confederation’s (AFC) regional championship in Nepal.

Despite opposition from parents, who wanted her to pursue athletics, Dalvi took up football from an early age of 10 years, as suggested by her coach. Dalvi has proved herself, being one of the finest strikers in Maharashtra with absolute direct kick-ins and dribbling.
Proud Mother of Dalvi Mrs. Hema said “We wanted her to be a sprinter, but now we realize that she and her coach had made the right choice. Playing for the country is a matter of pride,”

Bhagyashree was part of India’s under-14 girls team for AFC Regional championship for South and Central Zone. She also attended the under-15 selection trial at Cooperage ground.

Muriel Fernandes,Principal of Ryan International School of Sanpada where Dalvi is studying in class XI, commerce is proud of her achievements calling the courageous girl sports star of the school.
