Sanchita FC and Hirai Suns escape with narrow wins

The 6th day of Colaba Sports League 2016 concluded with Sanchita FC and Hirai Suns running out as winners against their counterparts Konnark and Flash FC, respectively.

Both the matches were played out at Cooperage and turned out to be close affair.

Sanchita FC 2-1 Konnark FC

Two first half goals helped Sanchita FC to register a narrow 2-1 win over inform Konnark FC on Wednesday evening. The race for the first four spots has been wide open now after this result.

It took Sanchita FC just 17 minutes to open the scoring. Marquee player Pratik Koli danced past couple of Konnark’s defender and buried his shot in the bottom corner to put his side in front.

On the 34th minute, Sanchita’s junior player Akash Rathod tapped home from close range to double his side lead. Konnark’s Manoj Meher did made a brilliant save seconds earlier but somehow the ball sneaked past him and fell into Akash’s path who didn’t made any mistake to put Sanchita FC 2-0 ahead.

In the second half, Konnark showed glimpse of their previous match and put a good fight to make an comeback.

Their hard work did paid off on the 69th minute when Captain Valentine Pereira cut short the deficit after converting from the spot kick. Konnark dominated the last fifteen minutes but Sanchita FC held on to register an hard fought win.

Pratik Koli was declared as the player of the match for his brilliant performance.

Hirai Suns FC 1-0 Flash FC

Nagesh Swami’s boys finally opened their account after a hard fought 1-0 victory over Flash FC in a tight contest at Cooperage on Wednesday evening.

Jiten Bhoir scored the lone goal in the first half to ensure Hirai’s first victory of the tournament.

The presence of Hirai’s marquee player Shrikant. proved essential for Nagesh Swami’s side who lacked a bit of experience in their first two games.

Junior player Akash Jadhav, Captain Sushil Kawde and Goalkeeper Harshad Meher had an excellent game which ensured their first win of their campaign.

For his impressive performance, Jiten Bhoir was adjudged as the player of the match.
