Sanchita F.C gets the better of Flash F.C in penalties

Sanchita F.C registered their maiden win in the second edition of Colaba Super League on Friday evening after edging out Flash F.C 3-2 in penalty shootout after the score was tied at 1-1 in normal time.

After a goalless first half, Flash F.C’s Chitresh Tandel opened the scoring in the second half and helped his side going into the final twenty minutes with a one goal cushion. But Sanchita F.C fought back hard late in the match and soon leveled the score through Akash Rathod to send the match into penalties where they eventually ran out as winners.

Flash F.C had a fine start and could have broke the deadlock early in the match. On the 16th minute, Sanchita F.C’s Defender Kalpesh Nijap brought down Aniket Panchal just outside the box leading to a free kick in a dangerous position. Defender Ashish Pawaskar curled his free kick over the wall, only to see his effort blazing the side netting.

Sanchita F.C’s marquee player Shravan Shetty missed a glorious opportunity just moment after Ashish Pawaskar came close. Shravan’s right footed low drive managed to beat Flash F.C’s Goalkeeper Sagar Pagdhare but it was not as accurate as Shravan thought as the ball sailed wide.

Prathamesh Kasare of Sanchita F.C made a brilliant move just five minutes into the second half when he cut inside and tried to score past Sagar Pagdhare on the near post, but Prathamesh only managed to hit his low shot wide.

Midway into the second half, Flash F.C finally broke the deadlock. Captain Chetan Tandel’s shot was thwarted by Hitesh Pagdhare when Chitresh Tandel quickly pounced and scored on a rebound to put the boys in red in front.

Just when Flash F.C were heading towards their second win of the CSL campaign, Sanchita F.C’s junior player Akash Rathod took his chance and half volleyed past Sagar Pagdhare from inside the box to level the score. Sagar did managed to get his fingertip on Akash’s shot but couldn’t kept it out.

The match went to penalties where Chitresh Tandel of Flash F.C missed the decisive penalty which gave Sanchita F.C their maiden victory. For his impressive save and reflexes, Sanchita F.C’s Goalkeeper Hitesh Pagdhare won the man of the match award.
