Round-up: MSSA Boys under-10 Division I and II

On Monday afternoon, January 25th 2016, the Annual Inter-school Football Tournament’s quarter-final and pre quarter-final stage kicked-off for the Boys under-10 division I and division II respectively, following the playoffs drama for the Boys under-10 last-Saturday, at the Mumbai Schools Sports Association (MSSA) ground, Azad Maidan.

Having come-out victorious in the Boys under-10 division II playoff round, a total of sixteen were seeded against each-other, distributed in a total of eight games for the pre quarter-final stage of the tournament.

St. Gregorios High School, Bombay Scottish School A (Powai), Bombay Scottish School B (Mahim), Arya Vidya Mandir, St. Stanislaus High School B (Bandra), St. Peter’s School, Christ Church School B (Byculla) and Diamond Jubilee High School carved their way through as they dug deep to grind a place in the quarter-finals of this year’s tournament; continuing to prosper on their beliefs to climb into the first-division of boys under-10.

The quarter-finals of the division II will be played on the 27th of January 2016 with Pool A games to played at 9 a.m. and 10 a.m., whereas Pool B games will played at 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 a.m.

Meanwhile, in the Division I quarter-finals round of the boys under-10, St. Mary’s A (ICSE) narrowly edged past St. Domnic Savio High School by 2-1; St. Stanislaus High School A (Bandra) versus St. Mary’s High School (SSC) and Bombay Scottish School A (Mahim) versus St. Joseph’s High School both concluded with a similar score-line of two goals to one.

The match between Campion School A (Cooperage) versus Don Bosco High School A (Matunga) went down to the wire as both sides deadlocked at 0-0 after the end of the full-time whistle. The final match on the day had all the essence for a pulsating finale as the match headed into a penalty shootout. With a number of twist-and-turns attached to it, Nathan Fories had the final say for Campion School A (Cooperage) in the shoot-out, who calmly converted the penalty as his teammates released their breaths in euphoria before they would rejoice.

The under-10 Division I semi-final will be played on the 27th of Januray 2016 at 2 and 3 p.m. respectively; in the first semi-final, St. Mary’s A (ICSE) (Mazagaon) will feature against St. Stanislaus High School A (Bandra), whereas Bombay Scottish School A (Mahim) will tussle versus Campion School A (Cooperage) in the 2nd semi-final. The final will be played on the 29th of Januray 2016 at 4 p.m.
