Rizvi College wins Goan Sports title
Mumbai: Rizvi College clinched the top honours in the Goan Sports Association (GSA) organized Inter-Collegiate football tournament – 2016. In the final, which witnessed a keen contest, Rizvi managed to overcome St. Andrew’s College 6-5 via the sudden death penalty shootout at the GSA ground, Cross Maidan.
The summit clash between two evenly matched outfits finished in a goalless draw and the penalty shootout was resorted to decide the winner. In the first set of five attempts the scores were level at 5-all and the game went to the sudden death in which Rizvi managed to come through.
Showing better nerves the Rizvi player proved to be better marksmen as they successful converted all their tries through Craig D’Souza, Zeeshan Khan, Leander Dharmai, Raunak Killinger, Hasan Golwala, Scott D’Souza. St. Andrew’s scored through Johnathan D’Lima, Carlton Miranda, Ashish Shetty, Daniel D’Souza and Elton Quadros. Dermott Gracias was the only player who failed to score.
Results – final: Rizvi College 6 (Craig D’Souza, Zeeshan Khan, Leander Dharmai, Raunak Killinger, Hasan Golwala, Scott D’Souza) beat St. Andrews College 5 (Johnathan D’Lima, Carlton Miranda, Ashish Shetty, Daniel D’Souza, Elton Quadros).
