7th RCF Premier Cup: Roundup of 15-Dec’16.
Air India, Rajra Mine’s, ONGC & the visitor team Nagpur FC through to the Quarter Finals on the first day heavyweight fixture of the RCF Premier Cup Men’s open category as there were plenty of goals to watch for in the very first 4 games of the Cup, which creates more and more enthusiasm and passion for all the spectators who have witnessed it.
Looking past, the history of this Premier Cup, tells us about the holders of the 2014 Premier Cup who kick-started the game at 4:30 pm, which was Air India who played against Century Rayon who were held to a goalless full-time result with a very competitive display by the Rayons but past through them in the tie breaker with a penalty scoreline of 8-7 with a decisive save by Prosenjit Ghosh of Air India who booked their spot in the Quarterfinals against the second pre-quarter match winners that is the Rajra Mine’s.
Rajra Mine’s who played the very 2nd match of the Cup against Dena Bank which kicked off at 7:15 pm was another game to watch out for, where both the teams also played a fantastic game with a full-time score of 2-1 ended up in the favour of Rajra Mine’s.
In the 27th minute of the game, there was a dramatic own goal scored by Ansar Umair which helped the Mine’s to grab a lead for the first time in the game but Himanshu Patil cancelled out the goal with a wonderful strike in the 37th minute helping his side to get back in the game but never too late for the Mine’s as Shrikanth Jersey no.9 scored the winner in the 54th minute and sealed the victory for the Red & Black army as they get the holders of the Cup i.e., Air India in their second match of the tournament.

Followingly the 3rd match was played between ONGC & Kenkre FC U-19 which kicked off as scheduled at 8:30 pm, where all the spectators got to victim plenty of goals from the game with ONGC tearing apart the Kenkre FC U-19 defence from time to time as the match ended up in a 5-2 meltdown but a brave fighting spirit as age doesn’t really matter for the Yellow team.
Arjun Nayak scored the opener for the blues in the 11th min followed by a quick goal from Kevin no.28 in the very second minute that was in the 12th min of the game where the yellow team were trying to get back in the game V. Lalchhuaiwama scored te 3rd goal of the match in the 18th min went down to be the final score of the HT that’s 3-0 in the favour of the blues.
During the second half of the game, Kevin got a brace in the very first minute which was the 31st minute of the game, later to get something out of the game Kenkre opened their scoreline with 2 consolation goals which came from Swagal & substitute Alok in the 49th & 54th min respectively but weren’t able to get back as later on the substitute Dharmesh Patel mad his mark on the game with a 5th goal for the blues in the 53rd min which came to be the last but the 7th goal of the game in a high tempo match of the day. Well played Kenkre FC U-19, hoping to see more from you in the future.
Coming to the last game of the day, which was played between Sellebrity FC & Nagpur FC with the kick off time at 9:45 pm, which was victimised as a very high tempo match of the day where 2 players of each team got on the referee’s notebook rewarded with a yellow card for each. The game ended up with all square as both the teams couldn’t open the deadlock, resultantly, ended up in the penalties were Sellebrity FC came down against Nagpur FC with a scoreline of 4-3 in penalties.
On 16th December 2016, RCF Premier Cup will play the second half of the pre-quarters which are as follows:-
- 4:30 PM – PIFA Colaba v/s UBI.
- 6:00 PM – Central Railway v/s Central Bank (C.B.I).
- 7:15 PM – KSA v/s Mumbai Customs.
- 8:30 PM – Western Railway v/s Kenkre FC.
