Raj Koli nets lone goal in L&T 1-0 win

Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA) Division 3 on Friday afternoon, 8th April, 2016 saw Larsen & Tubro S.C. play hosts to Mumbai FC Colts (Group ‘F’) at 12:00 p.m. and 7 B Star featured against Charotter Rukhi Samaj (Group ‘B’) next at 3:45 p.m. match at St. Xavier’s ground, Parel.
In the opening fixture, in Group ‘F’ between Larsen & Tubro and Mumbai FC Colts, Raj Koli strike early in the first-half of the match proved enough for the home-side to take-back maximum points. The match did not produce enough for Mumbai FC Colts, who were victims of their underperforming selves, when in-front of the goal.
The only goal of the game came inside 10 minutes as Larsen & Tubro SC’s Raj Koli capitalized from a goalkeeping mistake. While for a majority portion of the match, Mumbai FC Colts dominated the proceedings, giving Larsen & Tubro SC no-real time on the ball. But an unappeasable defensive effort from the hosts kept the Colts cornered, earning all three points in the process.
In the other match, in group ‘B’, which saw Charotter Rukhi Samaj against 7 B Star, ended Charotter Rukhi Samaj 3-0 7 B Star.
Charotter Rukhi Samaj opened the scoring in the fifth minute, when a fine through-pass into space, was collected by Rahul Solanki, leaving the 7 B Star defence open – the scorer guided the ball past the goalkeeper’s right. The following minutes of the first-half had Charotter Rukhi Samaj dominating possession inside the opposition territory, creating a hatful of chances, but poor finishing and decision making from the attackers left the side vulnerable on occasions, when 7 B Star attacked. Charotter Rukhi Samaj found breathing space with a second goal; coming in the 23rd minute via Suraj Makwana, whose finish resembled Nwankwo Kanu’s (goal for Arsenal against Chelsea).
In the 24th minute, a third and a second-goal from Rahul Solanki of Charotter Rukhi Samaj faded the 7 B Star’s hopes of a comeback. Overall, an underperforming 7 B Star were up-against a physically superior opposition in Charotter Rukhi Samaj, who out-performed their opposition; despite struggling to convert three-fourth of their chances, hitting the post twice.
A match in which the scoreline could have easily turned into an embarrassment for 7 B Star finished at 3-0 for Charotter Rukhi Samaj.
