Premier Futsal: Kolkata and Mumbai starts their campaign with a win

With all this time rooting legendary players, India’s first futsal tournament Premier Futsal began on 15th July. The opening ceremony was held in Chennai. The action was intense. Kolkata and Mumbai started with 4-2 wins against Goa and Chennai respectively.

The first match-day of the inaugural season saw Falcao’s Chennai 5’s go against Giggs’ Mumbai 5’s. The second game of the opening day was Ronaldinho’s Goa 5’s vs Hernan Crespo’s Kolkata 5’s.

In the first match of the season between Chennai and Mumbai, Mumbai emerged winners with goal each in quarters.

Angellot scoring in the first and Foglia converting a penalty making it 2-0 in two quarters. Later, Foglia chipped above the post and Ryan Giggs hit slow off a free-kick to the goalkeeper.

For Chennai 5s, Romulo tried in vain to back-heel a short aerial pass from Falcao into the net. Later, he to went on to threaten to score but failing.

Ramirez netted Foglia’s pass off a free-kick for Mumbai’s third, before Foglia himself scored again off a Giggs pass in the last quarter, the one in which Chennai managed two goals — Cirilo and Falcao scored one each — to hand Mumbai a 4-2 win.

The second game of the season had the charm of it’s own with Legendary Ronaldinho getting all the praise from the fans and only was multiplied when he took a free-kick which he passed to Vampeta. He was benched after two quarters.
