PIFA Colaba U19 comeback from a goal down to beat Friends United

PIFA Colaba U19 beat Friends United 3-1 in the Mumbai District Football Association ( MDFA), First Division  match held on Thursday afternoon at St Xavier’s ground, Parel.

PIFA Colaba U19 faced off Friends United in the MDFA 1st division league match.One of the few league games pending. Friends United opened the scoring in the 2nd minute when number 11 Akhil Khandelwal scored the goal. To everyone in the stands it was a surprise to see PIFA Colaba U19 trail very early in the match. But Friends Untied are no easy team to beat and even PIFA Colaba had to dig deep to overcome this mean feat. At halftime Friends United led 1-0

In the second half PIFA were quick to score the equaliser when number 14 Ranjan Tandel scored the goal.It was just 5 minutes into the second half. Number 21 Zeeshan Patel scored the second in the 60th minute which took the sting out of Friends United. And PIFA soon stamped their authority on the game scoring the third. Number 10 Aniket Panchal scored in the 66th minute completing a PIFA Colaba turn around. The final 10 minutes was an end to end game where in Friends United tried coming back in the game but an astute PIFA team stood firm.

This win will be a confidence booster for PIFA Colaba U19 and they will be looking to take out all the positives from this season. Meanwhile Friends United can take pride as well after playing out an efficient season. Until next season these teams have to wait to progress to the Super Division.
