Parle United lift Brawlers Cup 2016 beating UK United!

Last-weekend had two days of enthralling football action for participants and spectators at Brawlers Cup 2016 . A nail-biting final of an absorbing tournament saw Pool A’s Parle United clinch a 4-3 win over Pool B’s UK United.
A total of 32 teams were distributed into two pools – A and B – where each pool comprised a total of 16 teams.

The third-round of matches or quarter-final saw teams battle with a place in the semi-finals at stake. In pool A, Black Wings went head-to-head against Maccabi Telaviv and Jr. Classico faced Parle United, whereas in pool B Joga Bonito hosted Bacardi Boys, Sacred Heart played UK United.

Note: Maccabi Telaviv was disqualified from the tournament for fielding ineligible players on the field against Black Wings in the quarter-final round. As a result, Black Wings progressed into the last-4 against UK United; Joga Bonito featured versus Parle United in the other semi-final match.
In the semi-finals, Joga Bonito were defeated by eventually champions Parle United by 4-0 with goals from Melwin, Mahesh and a brace from Dan sealed a place in the final. On the other-hand, UK United comprehensively beat Black Wings by 4-1 as Patrick Mascaranhes became the hat-trick hero of the match with Price scoring the fourth goal; a consolation goal from Black Wings was scored by Tyson at 3-0.
A final between Parle United and UK United saw the latter come-back twice into the match, but fell short as they lost the title by a narrow margin of 4-3. UK United showed no sign of giving-up, having fallen behind 1-0, initially, they got themselves back on level-terms only to fall behind once again, but a spirited team effort made it 2-2 only for Parle United to produce two moments of magic, making it 4-2 as a third goal by Patrick Mascaranhes proved to be a mere catch, which winners Parle United were able to survive.
A dominant team and individual performance from Parle United saw the winners add two more triumphs as Dan won the player of the tournament title and Danston Rodriguez was duly credited with the goalkeeper of the tournament title. Meanwhile, UK United’s Patrick Mascaranhes was awarded the top-scorer of the tournament.
