Naaz United wins a thriller against Jyoti F.C

Naaz United continued their excellent form after prevailing 2-1 in penalties against Jyoti F.C after the match ended 2-2 in normal time. Both the matches played on Friday at Cooperage Stadium had to be decided on penalties, such was the intensity of the match.

Naaz United’s Aziz Khan opened the scoring midway into the match before their Captain Rashid Shaikh doubled their lead just before the half time. Just when Naaz United thought that the job is done, Lakhan Lokhande pulled once back in the dying minutes before Vaibhav Tandel made it 2-2 for Jyoti F.C to send the match into the penalties.

It was a terrific comeback by Hasmukh Baria’s side but luck wasn’t on their side in penalties as they lost out 2-1 against a mighty Naaz United side.

Naaz United had a great start. Their midfield dominated most of the first half which put a hefty pressure on Jyoti F.C’s back-line. Their hard work soon paid off when Aziz Khan broke the deadlock with a swift strike past Jyoti F.C’s Goalkeeper Kishan Sulegai.

Just at the stroke of half time, Rashid Shaikh who was undoubtedly the most experience player on the field broke into Jyoti F.C’s defense and brilliantly scored past Kishan to increase their lead by two goals.

Jyoti F.C bounced back in the second half. Late in the match Jyoti F.C’s David D’Souza was brought inside box, Substitute Lakhan Lokhande stepped up and send the Goalkeeper Manish Shetty the wrong way to cut short the deficit.

With just three minutes left on the clock Jyoti F.C leveled the score when Left back Vaibhav Tandel caught Naaz United’s defense napping and taking the advantage brilliantly struck past Manish Shetty to send the match into the penalties.

Jyoti F.C’s Goalkeeper Kishan Sulegai saved a brilliant penalty from Bhavesh Vaidya in the shootout, but Jyoti F.C’s Lakhan Lokhande and Bhagwan Patil both missed their penalties which gave Naaz United a huge opportunity to win the match.

Prashant Kamble stepped up and converted his spot-kick to give Naaz United their second win in a row.
