Mumbai, July 1: Muriel Adam of PDFA (Pune District Football Association) has been appointed as the captain of the (WIFA) Maharashtra State Junior Women’s team that will participate in the AIFF Junior National Women’s Football Championship – 2016-17 to be held in Cuttack, Odisha from July 4 onwards.

Aditi Shetty of MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) is the vice-captain of the Maharashtra team. The Head Coach of the team is AFC ‘C’ License holder Durva Vahia who is being accompanied by Manager Annie Paul and Physiotherapist Pooja Mehta.

The team boasts of many players who have represented the country in junior international tournaments. The international players are Bhagyashree Dalvi (Jr. International), Akanksha Khandalkar (Jr. International) and Karen Pais (Former captain and Jr. International).

Maharashtra girls will face Chhattisgarh and Manipur in the group stage. In the opening encounter, Maharashtra meets Chhattisgarh on Monday and then take on Manipur on Wednesday.

The team is as follows: Aditi Shetty (vice-captain), Afreen Peerbhoy, Riya Tank, Priyanka Sutaria, Bhagyashree Dalvi, Akanksha Khandalkar, Karen Pais, Pooja Dhamal, Tricia Colaco, V.K. Shruthilakshmi, Ark Deanndra D’silva, Zarastyn Mistry, Reva Sankhe (all Mumbai), Muriel Adam (captain) , Smriti Ganesh, Sasha Pimento (all Pune), Nikita Jadhav (Buldhana), Vandana Golha (Jalgaon) and Neha Kohli (Dhule).
