Mumbai FC ease to a 5-0 win over UBI

Friday, 23rd December 2016, Cooperage Stadium: Mumbai FC repeated history as they scored 5 thrashing Union Bank of India just as they did last season, Union Bank of India however, had scored 2 goals last year in comparison to this year’s score sheet of 5-0.

The game became a delight to watch from the 24th minute as Ashish Pawaskar from UBI got into the referee’s notebook receiving a yellow card.
Both the teams playing a very slick passing and possession football which looked more beautiful in the 27th minute when Hitesh Sharma from the right side assisting a low ball which found Nikhil Kadam who just tabs in past the keeper making it 1-0 for the Mumbai FC.
29’ – Penalty! Another playmaking from the duo on the right flank, left the defender with no chance but to take Nikhil down in the box. Karan Sawhney took charge of the penalty calmly placing the ball in the bottom corner sending the keeper the wrong way making it 2-0 in the 34th minute.

Soon in the 35th minute, a harsh challenge was made by Manuel D’souza on a Midfielder of the trailing side getting him the second yellow card of the game.
Shilton D’silva made it three that raced down to pick up the loose ball, slotting it in style past the keeper.
Khalid Siddique with a frustrated foul on the Mumbai player got him the third yellow card of the match just before the whistle fro half time.
Resulting: Mumbai FC 3-0 Union bank of India at Half Time.
Referee Rahul Gupta got busy again in the 51st minute showing the fourth yellow card to Vaibhav Karpe & later the fifth but a second yellow to Manuel D’souza resulting in a red card which saw Mumbai go down to 10 men in the 52nd minute also in the 54th minute saw another yellow card to Rohel Shaikh.
With the reduced 3 defence making sure about holding the trailing side well behind got to see Vaibhav Karpe making way for Steven Dias who has recently extended his stay in the club & Cletus Paul coming in place of Karan Sawhney up ahead in the 72nd minute.
Both the substitutes show their class as they combine well in the 81st minute as Cletus Paul puts a through ball to Steven Dias who easily puts the ball past the keeper making it 4-0.
In the 88th minute, Steven Dias repays the favour as he puts down a lovely ball to Cletus Paul in a one on one situation who scores the fifth goal of the game despite having a man short resulting in a 5-0 win.
